The Entire Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally ~ Video via Cspan

Geese perform a military fly-over

This was truly awesome. It occurred at 9:59 am. The rally’s intro video had just begun. It felt like it was perfectly planned.

Beck Crowd Leaves Mall Clean; Obama Crowd Not so Much ~ FoxNation
What do these two videos say about this “conventional wisdom,” and will Obama-loving media members in the post-rally coverage of this event point out to readers and viewers just how clean our National Mall was left by these awful, greedy, right-wing extremists?

To say that climbing on a bus with fifty strangers to join a caravan of hundreds of other buses jostling our way up the yellow-brick road to Oz put this Historian out of his comfort zone would not be an understatement; it would be a gross understatement.

Glenn Beck says that this Saturday’s 8/28 “Restoring Honor” rally is about far more than just politics.

“This isn’t a rah-rah USA kind of thing. This is a sacred reflective spot in our nation… the Reflecting Pool,” said Beck, in an exclusive interview with Townhall.com and Townhall Magazine. “I think if you stand between Lincoln and Washington, spiritually, mentally, morally, we will heal our country.”

Healing his country is at the top of the agenda for the media mogul, who has recently introduced a prayer to his daytime radio show and frequently touches on his spiritual background during his top-ranked cable program. Restoring Honor is one way to propel his talk into action, and to provide a platform for agenda items that he plans on releasing at the rally.

“We have worked very, very hard on something that is extraordinarily delicate and fragile. It will be announced at the end of this, as the beginning of something that I believe will have restorative change as a result,” said Beck. “I don’t mean restore it back 2000, or George Bush, I mean restore us back to where we belong and where we should be as a nation and where we have been very few times in our nation’s history.” Continue reading »

We’re at a pivotal moment in American history.  Never in our lifetimes have the consequences of liberal big government been on such ubiquitous display, not only here, but everywhere we look.  The socialist democracies of Western Europe stand at the precipice of complete downfall.  Many of our own liberal states are facing the same bankrupt status.  Our own federal debt is choking the life out of any hope for quick recovery.  A president in so far over his head that he is drowning in his own useless rhetoric has become an embarrassment to the nation.  And plenty of enemy states are just chomping at the bit ready to pounce at our weakness.

Many who stay conscientiously involved in politics on a daily basis seem ready to throw in the proverbial towel on America and go down in ignominious defeat like the Europeans.  Just follow them off the cliff because nothing can be done to stop it.  It’s too late.  The socialists’ march through our institutions has gone too far; it can’t be reversed.  I’ve heard and read this sentiment over and over again of late.  Our grand Republic, say the defeatists, is just one step shy of the historical grave. America is not a plot of land. It is not a culture. It is not a nationality. It is not a set of traditions or customs. It is not a government. It is not a people. It is not a book of laws. And it certainly isn’t a race.

America is an idea.

That’s why anyone can become an American. Embrace the idea (and fill out a few forms) and you’re an American.

You’re one of us.

Most other nations are nationalities. Their heritage depends on blood and territory. America is portable. We carry it around in our hearts and minds.

If you bomb our cities, you can’t destroy America. If you ruin our economy, you can’t destroy America. If most of the continent falls into the ocean, you can’t destroy America. Even if you kill most of us, you can’t destroy America. Continue reading »

The rest of the story…

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

I’m going to show you the propaganda machines of the Woodrow Wilson and FDR administrations and, more importantly, I’m going to show you the similar machine being built today, with Cass Sunstein leading the charge.

They’ve all used faith, charity and hope — I’m switching the order to show you historically how they’ve been used.

Wilson used faith: He introduced the concept of social justice. He knew he couldn’t sway the public so he had to find another way.

FDR used charity: Everyone has a right to a job and a house.

Hope — well, we all know that to be the centerpiece of Barack Obama; hope in big government, not God. Continue reading »

Faith mattered greatly to our Founders.  Consider, for example, the words of the First Continental Congress in 1774:

THAT it is an indispensable duty which we owe to God, our country, ourselves and posterity, by all lawful ways and means in our power to maintain, defend and preserve these civil and religious rights and liberties for which many of our father fought, bled and died, and to hand them down entire to future generations.

Many contemporary historians and media figures have trouble, however, speaking of what our Founders called “an indispensable duty which we owe to God”.  The reason is that many of our contemporaries no longer believe what our founders believed.  As a result they usually misunderstand our courageous forbearers.  Or even worse, many modern and post-modern writers and reporters suppress, delete, expunge or outright deny our Founders’ cherished spiritual commitments.  Consequently, some contemporary media communicators, such as Will Bunch with MediaMatters (“Beck pushes distorted view of George Washington’s Christianity to No. 1”) seek to refute those who celebrate, defend and advocate our Founders’ views of faith by ridicule and reductionism. I constantly hang out with great Americans from every walk of life. We understand that the American Dream is about being the best that you can be, to work as hard as possible and be accountable in order to be an asset to our families, communities and country.

We expect our government to secure our borders, keep us safe from our enemies, and play by the rules as laid out in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, Golden Rule and Ten Commandments, and otherwise pretty much stay the heck out of our way. We the people know that the government is supposed to work for us, not run amok and abandon all accountability as the out-of-control, gluttonous, criminal Fedzilla is currently overtly guilty of.

The Tea Party is so simple, it’s stupid. Named after the uprising of Americans sick and tired of tyrants usurping the new American freedom lifestyle and dream, taxation without representation was merely the tip of that 1773 culture war spear, and now accurately represents the spirit of the 2010 Tea Party movement.
