Who is the Diversity Czar and What is His Agenda?
By April M. Novoa
If you are like me you might be curious about all these “Czars” that keep getting appointed. One such “Czar” that got my attention this week is Mr. Mark Lloyd. President Obama has appointed Mr. Lloyd to the position of FCC Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer. You might wonder “why would this be important to me?” Well, I will answer that with a bit of history about Mr. Mark Lloyd’s philosophies and goals for our country.
Mr. Mark Lloyd is a senior fellow the Center For American Progress. The Center For American Progress is a group dedicated to spreading the progressive agenda. The Center For American Progress was begun in 2003 with funding from philanthropists Herbert Sandler and Marion Sandler. It is a Washington, DC-based liberal “think tank” created and led by President and Chief Executive Officer John Podesta, the head of Obama’s presidential transition team after the 2008 election and former Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton.
Among Mr. Lloyd’s goals are the following:
Repair what is “wrong” with conservative talk radio
Restore caps on the ownership of commercial radio stations
Ensure greater local accountability over radio licensing
Require station owners who do not abide by enforceable public interest obligations to pay a fee to support public broadcasting
Now you are going to have to read between the lines here. Mark is not a fan of talk radio. I don’t think Mark is a great fan of free speech either. He is very interested in instating something known as the “Fairness Doctrine”. In a nutshell FCC government officials determine what is “fair” and what should be broadcasted. He also has some disturbing views on what is known as “Media Diversity” and “Localism”. “Media Diversity” claims to place the emphasis on a true measure of what is in the public interest, according to the government, eliminating any programming in the media that doesn’t line up with what that is determined, by the government, to be in the “interest of the people”. This should have you shaking in your boots. “Localism” would require that broadcast companies serve the “needs” of their local community and those needs would be determined of course by the government, specifically Mr. Mark Lloyd. So to sum it up this administration would like to have COMPLETE control of what you hear, read and see in the media.
Please see video below.
I really hope no one is naïve enough to believe that the government won’t use this power to control what we think, feel or believe. To some degree all of our media very much shapes what we believe today. Do you think that government propaganda can’t possibly get out of control in The United States of America? I submit that it already is and has been for some time.
